I Put A Ring On It

My beautiful bride and I

It’s been a little over a week since I tied the knot on the beaches of Playa Mujeres, Mexico. If you’re in the process of planning a wedding, I highly recommend a destination one! Lots of fun, relatively painless to plan, and all of your friends and loved ones will get a vacation out of it. A win-win-win.

Villa Del Palmar, Cancun was the resort of choice, and they delivered on all fronts. The ceremony and reception went off without a hitch. Despite the fact the original JP got in a car accident on the way to the ceremony (hope he’s OK), a replacement was called in within a half hour. Apparently JP’s grow on trees in Mexico! I can’t say enough good things about the resort overall. First class accommodations and then some.

I’ve been asked a handful of times if I feel different now that I’ve got a ring on my finger. The answer is largely no. I knew she was the one for me early on in our relationship, and those feelings have only grown stronger over the last 2+ years. We’ve lived together for well over a year, so there aren’t going to be any surprises at this stage.

I’ve been welcomed into a great family on her side, too. And by all accounts, her family and mine really hit it off in Mexico. Having a week to celebrate together is a nice way for everyone to more intimately get to know one another, which will eliminate any potential stuffiness in family gatherings down the road. If you’re on the fence as to whether a destination wedding is the right choice for you, DO IT! No regrets.
